Ladies, Festivals are Hoping You Can Use a Urinal

Today's read ... 8

Drake announces a new Toronto venue, the GLOW holiday festival might want to hire you, and ladies, festivals want you to use urinals to speed things up. (We wholeheartedly object.) Also, BOH has a new look and new monthly headliners. You won't want to miss this year's lineup!

NITO issued a statementThe long-awaited SVOG funding has still not been distributed to the majority of struggling venues, and NITO issued a statement imploring action from the SBA.

New Toronto venueLooks like Drake’s ‘workin’ on the weekend like usual’ as the rapper and Live Nation Canada team up to launch a new Toronto venue called History.

Capacity restrictions liftedAll capacity restrictions will be lifted for concerts in the Netherlands and Denmark next month with proof of vaccination or negative test. Also, with the majority of the population vaccinated, there are no longer any restrictions on mass gatherings in Israel, allowing the live industry to function normally (paywall).

Venue updatesSome venues are closing up while others are just getting started. Big Sky Amphitheater in Montana has cancelled its programming for 2021. However, Oxbow RiverStage in California shared their list of artists to perform starting August 14.

Only four COVID-19 infectionsOut of the 11,000 attendees of the World Snooker Championships in England, only four COVID-19 infections were detected. There are still questions regarding the safety of indoor events in the future.

Tickets through ClubhouseYou might be able to buy tickets through Clubhouse in the future as the founders seek to monetize and reach new consumers.

Reopening plansThe New York Times has created a comprehensive guide to the reopening plans for all 50 US states. See where your state falls on the timeline based on current data.

Another layer of protectionA new patented thermometer will supposedly take individuals’ temperature without any physical contact, a technology that would add another layer of fan and worker protection (paywall).

Female urinalsBathroom lines at festivals might be speeding up. Companies are developing female urinals to improve the event experience (and prompting a “hard no” from the females here at BOH Live).

The future of stagecraftAR might change the game of concert production. Read Rolling Stone’s take on the future of stagecraft.
