New ticketing platformSports Illustrated has launched SI Tix, a new ticketing platform in partnership with Venmo with a $10 flat transaction fee and 100,000 tickets for concerts, theater and sporting events. 

The final round of COVID-19 reliefThe final round of the Recording Academy’s MusiCares COVID-19 relief funding will grant $2 million to 2,000 music industry professionals.

ASM Global VenuesTicketmaster will now be selling tickets for Live Nation shows at ASM Global venues in North America.

Audience Access Alliance reopening checklistAn accessibility reopening checklist has been developed by the Audience Access Alliance to assist venues in preparing to welcome deaf, disabled, and neurodivergent individuals to shows. The band has been receiving criticism for their decision to require vaccination upon purchasing a ticket for their tour.

400,000 PeopleDanny Wimmer Presents has had an exciting week. 400,000 people tuned in during the first week of their Twitch livestreaming platform. Additionally, Billy Alan Productions has been obtained by DWP, broadening their booking ventures to include Native American casinos.

Government supportThe UK government has postponed lifting the country’s COVID-19 restrictions from June 21 to July 19, prompting the Association of Independent Festivals to call out for government support yet again. Several festivals have already cancelled since the announcement, and grassroots music venues are expected to lose £36million because of this delay. The Night Time Industries Association wrote an open letter to the Prime Minister.

Another summer of cancellationsDespite the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Spain, the event industry in Ibiza is potentially facing another summer of cancellations. No club has announced a reopening date.

World of live-audioSpotify has moved into the world of live-audio with their Greenroom app for iOS and Android. Similar to Clubhouse, users can connect and converse, as well as record their content to create podcasts.

The Coalition of FestivalsThe Coalition of Festivals, a trade association recently launched by Jonathan Azu, Kyle Casey, Kierrah Matthews, Veline Mojarro, Katelyn Scott, Jen Stiles, and Evan Tzeng, aims to support equity, diversity, sustainability, and safety in the festival industry. Through two educational programs and partnerships with social impact groups, like Diversify the Stage and Well Dunn, this organization aims to create a space for productive dialog and act as a catalyst for tangible change in the business. Some of the festivals that have already joined the effort include Outside Lands, Hulaween, and The Governors Ball. Organizers believe that this community will only continue to grow. Festival Updates(Chicago, Illinois) City residents are eligible to receive a free day-pass to Lollapalooza donated by C3 Presents if they go get their COVID-19 vaccination at one of the designated locations on June 26th. 

(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) The lineup for Jay-Z’s Made In America Festival this Labor Day Weekend will include Justin Bieber, Lil Baby, Doja Cat, Roddy Rich, and more.

(Las Vegas, Nevada) The iHeartRadio Music Festival will take place this September with performances from Maroon 5, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Weezer, and others. 

(Columbia, Maryland) HAIM, St. Vincent, Charli XCX, and Lauv top the bill for the All Things Go Music Festival this October.

(Milwaukee, Wisconsin) Summerfest is officially going cashless this year. Only credit card purchases will be accepted.

(Las Vegas, Nevada) Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and Tyler the Creator will headline the Day N Vegas Festival in November. The three-day event will also feature SZA, DaBaby, Joey Bada$$, and many more.

(Madrid, Spain) Metallica, Imagine Dragons, and The Killers are just a few of the artists that will take the stage at the Mad Cool Festival this July. See the full lineup here.

(Edinburgh, Scotland) Night Light, the opening event of the Edinburgh International Festival, scheduled for the beginning of August has been cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions.
