Opinions are split for artists on vaccine requirements and COVID safety concerns. As we know, Neil Young dropped out of Farm Aid, and he continues to express that “these are super spreader events.” Meanwhile, Eric Clapton released the single, “This Has Gotta Stop,” potentially alluding to his frustration with lockdowns and mandates. Additionally, Travis Tritt believes that vaccination requirements are discriminatory.

Revenue increase Madison Square Garden Entertainment saw a $90 million increase in revenue from Q2 of 2020 to Q2 of 2021  

Funding for SpainA $3 million round of funding will be going to venue operators in Spain from the Catalan government for pandemic losses during the first half of this year.

 Harry Styles announced his North American tour starting on September 4th. Everyone in attendance will be required to wear a mask and provide either proof of vaccination or a negative test. 

 Don Toliver’s North American tour with BIA will kick off on September 20th.

 Pixies cancelled their September dates in the US.

 Phoebe Bridgers has shifted most of her upcoming tour to outdoor venues. 

 Florida Georgia Line has cancelled their upcoming tour.

 The New York and California shows from Widespread Panic have been rescheduled.

 Kings of Leon have cancelled several shows because a band member tested positive.

 Iowa banned vaccine passports so Spoon cancelled their show in Des Moines.

 Following Charlie Watts’ death, the Rolling Stones have announced that they will continue with their 2021 tour in North America.

 James Taylor and Jackson Browne have added 18 new dates to their North American tour.

 Modern English has postponed their North American tour.

Festivals

 (Reno, Nevada) Burning Man has been cancelled, but there will be a Virtual Black City Rock. In the meantime, check out the newly released Burning Man: The Musical.

 (Ottawa, Ontario) RBC Bluesfest and CityFolk have announced two live, in-person events for September. 

 (Yelgun, New South Wales) Australia’s Splendour in the Grass festival has been postponed to 2022 citing slow growing vaccination rates.

 (Cambridge, UK) The Strawberries & Creem festival, slated for mid-September, has added several artists to the lineup including Little Simz.

 (Queensland & New South Wales) Two major Australian festivals, Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash and Birdsville Big Red Bash, have already announced plans to require vaccination for attendees in 2022.

 (El Paso, Texas) Disco Donnie’s new Freakazoid Robots festival, scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, has been cancelled due to safety concerns from the city’s health officials and County Commissioner’s Court.

 (San Diego, California) Wonderfront Music & Arts Festival has been postponed to November of next year.
