Many ticketholders expressed their frustrations on social media, but others also offered their understanding for the organizers’ decision to cancel at the last minute. Bonnaroo Presents announced a ticketed show on Saturday (9/4) with Phoebe Bridgers, Brittany Howard, and Sylvan Esso for anyone, especially expected attendees who already travelled to Tennessee for the festival. Additional alternative events popped up during the weekend, including the 2,000 person The Other Fest. There have been more recent changes with artist booking contracts in terms of cancellation repercussions. Bonnaroo’s weather-induced cancellation could fall under Live Nation or AEG’s new policy with major talent agencies that only requires the promoter to pay 50% of the artist fee if the show is cancelled less than 30 days prior to its intended date.
