Hopefully, navigating the festival grounds was a breeze this weekend as EDC introduced Fans to the latest AR concept. Weather stood in the way of yet another festival while live-streaming proved a hit amongst fans.

Credit: Bruce MunroLighting StrikesOver the weekend, DWP’s Welcome to Rockville faced weather concerns which translated into shorted sets and the cancellation of Guns N’ Roses, Breaking Benjamin, and Skillet. Staff battled the weather Friday and Saturday.  

Paid WorkLive Nation is now offering paid internship programs. Nearly 15,000 applicants took an interest in the company this year, and 50 will begin internships this summer.  

New Aquire 

Outback Presents acquires Robomagic with a mission to “create more equitable touring opportunities.” This Nashville-based company took over the UK independent group shortly after their time under the Live Nation name ended. 

New Addition: Juneteenth Event  

In protest of the high ticket price for the Juneteenth event, Something In The Water, a competing event begins planning. The new event will offer free local acts and artisans as well as free food and water to add to the city’s list of June 19th celebrations.

Denmark Reports Positive Ticket SalesTicket sales continue to match pre-covid numbers, this time internationally. Denmark announced positive ticketing trends, specifically highlighting Roskilde Festival, Smukfest, and Copenhell.

 

Mad CoolMad Cool Festival re-introduces itself after a COVID hibernation. Spain’s 5-night festival includes headliners such as Imagine Dragons, Muse, and Kings of Leon.

K-Pop in Europe = Big SuccessEurope’s first K-pop festival was nothing short of a hit, selling 70,000 tickets to the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany. The event will return next June at the Frankfurt Arena.

Newest Gold Voice FestPier 80 will be the home to the first-year festival Portola Festival. Golden Voice will be promoting its latest addition and San Francisco-based two-day event.

Lineup Drop

Atlanta’s Music Midtown has dropped its lineup. The September event will headline Future, Fall Out Boy, and Jack White.

28,000 glowing “flowers” are taking center stage in Austin, spanning 16-acre of Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

  • Did you happen to be at the Harry Styles concert this weekend? Fear not; Apple Music is now offering exclusive access to live-stream shows. Tickets went for $25 to the public, while Apple Music members received access as a perk.

  • In partnership with CTS Eventim, the live stream company RTL+ will be making Rock am Ring available to fans online or via the RTL+ app. Another way to engage fans outside of festival grounds.

  • 85,000 tickets sold! What venue, you may ask? 100% online. Driift stepped in to bring fans virtually to The O2 for the sold-out Little Mix concert. 29,000 Fans watched from a nearby movie theatre via a partnership with Rippla.

  • eMusic Live, in partnership with AEG, brings Hangout Music Festival to fans, featuring customized pages to speak to the artist’s brand and heighten the viewer's experience.

EDC was the first to use the technology and provided fans with an interactive festival guide. The integration with Snapchat allowed fans to navigate to various stages, explore lineups, and even find friends throughout the crowds. 

 The Event Tech Live Summit is a free-to-attend digital. The event will take place on June 8th.

 Austin will host the VenuesNow Conference on October 5-7th. With a broad range of topics, a long list of speakers will cover everything from NFTs to parking to culture.
