What a week: From fundraising to an apparent apocalypse and severe weather canceling events to record-setting shows, it was a whirlwind. Hoping the upcoming week is as predictable as a good dad joke. 😉

Credit: Austin FriedlineDarius and Friends help St. JudeDarius Rucker raised more than $500,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital at his annual, “Darius and Friends” concert at the Ryman Theater in Nashville. The event, now in its 14th year, saw Vince Gill, Jake Owen, Megan Moroney, Jelly Roll, and HARDY join Rucker on stage during his sold-out, 3-hour, unofficial kick-off to CMA Fest.

UK’s First Festival CampaignThe Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) has launched a “First Festival Campaign” to provide access to festivals for people over the age of 18 across the UK, based on the belief that, “everyone should be able to access festivals and the pivotal cultural moments these events provide, once they turn 18.” Anyone who turned (or will turn) 18 between September 1st 2019 and 31st August 2023 in the UK can apply for a festival ticket for just ÂŁ18. AEG Community Foundation Grants AEG awarded 21 non-profit organizations in the US with grants totalling $320,000 through its AEG Community Foundation. The grants fund organizations in communities where AEG operates that have children and youth focused programs that support K-12 education, the arts and health and wellness initiatives.

Live Nation Canada 🤝 Great Canadian EntertainmentGreat Canadian Entertainment has locked in Live Nation Canada to be the exclusive booker for their resorts across Canada in a first-of-its-kind partnership. The two companies will jointly promote programing at venues including the soon-to-be-opened The Theatre at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto at the brand-new $1B Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto. 

IL’s first festival “Dab Bar”Illinois is getting its first-ever concert that allows legal, on-site cannabis consumption. The Miracle in Mundelein is presented by RYTHM Premium Cannabis, Sacred Rose, and Dayglo Presents and will take place September 9 - 10 in Mundelein, Illinois outside of Chicago. Cypress Hill and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will headline. Guests won’t be able to purchase cannabis inside the venue, but they can buy at a dispensary across the street and bring sealed products inside to enjoy at a dab bar and cannabis beverage garden.

AEG wants to “Keep the Party Safe”AEG Presents Rocky Mountain venues in Denver, CO have launched a ‘'Keep the Party Safe” campaign focused on providing education around overdose prevention. Eventually all venues will include Naloxone kits and staff will be trained how to use them. Guests will also see signage throughout the venues to educate them on the dangers of Fentanyl.

Ed Shereen sets MetLife recordEd Shereen’s June 11th show at MetLife Stadium in NJ broke the venue’s attendance record with over 89,000 fans and was his largest US concert to date. The attendance breaks U2’s previous record of 88,491 guests in 2011. Sure, Shereen is popular, but so is Taylor Swift who played at MetLife just 2 weeks prior. He was able to pack more fans into the venue due to his stage being set in the center of the stadium vs at one end of the floor, making more seating available.

Glastonbury stage runs on renewable energyThe Arcadia stage at this year’s Glastonbury festival (July 21 - 25, Glastonbury, UK) will run entirely on renewable energy. The stage is being powered by generators that run on HVO fuel, which is made from recycled chip fat and cooking oil, typically a waste product. 

Astroworld gag order remains despite challengeLast week, the Court of Appeals from the First District of Texas upheld the “publicity order” issued on February 15, 2021, shortly after the Astroword tragedy, following a challenge by ABC News. The order, “largely prohibited attorneys from speaking about the case, citing concerns that ‘extensive media coverage’ threatened to deprive the parties of their right to a fair trial by tainting the jury pool.” There was no reason given for the denial.

 Insomniac is hiring a Seasonal Signage Crew Installer for HARD Summer Music Festival. This part-time role is based in Los Angeles, CA with an hourly salary range of $18 - 24/hour.  The Factory in Deep Ellum is looking for a Ticketing Manager to join its team on-site in  Dallas, TX. Salary is $65,000. Freedom Forum in Washington, DC is seeking a full-time, on-site Director of Events. The application deadline is June 22 and salary range is $125,000-$134,000.

  • Last night's sold-out John Mellencamp concert in Albany, NY was abruptly canceled Monday morning, June 12th. No reason was given for the cancellation.

  • Lewis Capaldi announced that he has canceled all performances leading up to his June 24 performance at Glastonbury Festival, including shows in Leeds, Glasgow, London, and Norwegian festival, Neon, citing a need to rest and recover.

  • Run-DMC, Lil Wayne, and Snoop Dogg will headline Hip-Hop 50 Live, a concert co-produced by Live Nation, Mass Appeal and Yankee Stadium, celebrating 50 years of hip-hop on August 11 at Yankee Stadium in NY.

  • Hawthorne Heights’s California Is For Lovers Festival will also include Alkaline Trio, Sleeping With Sirens and Bayside on August 26 at Oak Canyon Park in Orange County, CA. 

  • EZOO returns to Randall's Island in New York City, September 1 -3 with Kx5, The Blessed Madonna, John Summit, Dom Dolla & Griz. (GRIZ announced some upcoming “time off” after his last show in October.)

Canadian Wildfires affect NY area events

NYC and surrounding areas had an apocalyptic aura as smoke from wildfires running rampant in Canada made its way south, causing an eerie orange glow, unsafe air quality, and a slew of cancellations across the region. Just a few of the cancellations included
