After more than six years, we’ve made the very difficult decision to take a pause on everything that is Back of House. Our last issue will be November 17th (Issue #340).

We built BOH because we noticed a gap in the industry conversation. When COVID shut everything down in 2020, it started as something simple: a calendar of virtual events so people could stay connected and informed. But pretty quickly, it became clear there was hunger from the community for something deeper. That's where we focused.

Over six years, 14 different individuals contributed to making BOH what it is now. We partnered with industry leaders like Kevin Lyman, Brian Bauer, Miguel Williams, and Well Dunn to bring you first-person articles and inspiring interviews, all of which shaped how the community talked about live events, whether it be emerging trends, mental health, or operations. We ran "BOH All Call" sessions on Clubhouse when we were isolated during COVID, we’ve published annual gift guides and end of year recaps, and we never missed a week for six years straight. We watched this grow from a handful of emails of family, friends, and coworkers to 4,000+ of the most career-driven individuals in live events, and a paid community that trusted us enough to support the work.

What surprised us most wasn't that there was an audience for this. It was how hungry this community was to talk about it openly, and what real conversations could happen when you created space for that. People have found jobs through BOH. You’ve sent us messages just to say thank you. You’ve held us accountable, too. That matters.

We both have full-time jobs, and for BOH’s duration, we've been trying to run it around the edges of those jobs. We've tried different formats, different cadences, different approaches to make it work. But every single time, we've come back to the same conclusion: you deserve more attention than we can give.

Therefore, we’ve come to the conclusion that BOH is no longer sustainable, and we're not going to let something we built and care about so deeply decline by half-measures.

We're doing eight more weeks, and we're doing them right! Regular issues through November 17th for everyone. Then, the archive will stay live indefinitely at bohlive.com.
