FIFA reportedly pulled in about $5 billion from World Cup tickets and hospitality. Bots flooded on-sales for Garth Brooks and Sam Fender, and Brazil ordered five resale sites, including StubHub and Viagogo, to halt operations ahead of BTS’s São Paulo shows. Meanwhile, GRiZ put his Seven Stars festival on indefinite hiatus after it was held at Oak Ridge Farm, a former slave plantation in Virginia, a venue he says his team never disclosed as having that history.

FIFA reportedly made £3.8 billion from World Cup tickets and hospitality
FIFA reportedly generated roughly £3.8 billion ($5 billion USD) from ticket and hospitality sales at the 2026 World Cup, more than five times the roughly $929 million it made from those sources in Qatar. FIFA has not confirmed the figure and says it will publish official numbers in its next annual report. The total beat FIFA’s own budget of about £2.5 billion ($3.4 billion USD) and helped push overall tournament revenue to around £11.3 billion ($15 billion USD). Reports credit the expanded 104-match format, dynamic pricing, and US resale rules, with one outlet adding that FIFA reportedly took a 30% cut of resales.
Brazil orders five resale sites to halt operations ahead of BTS 🇧🇷
Brazil’s federal consumer protection agency, Senacon, ordered StubHub, TicketSwap, Viagogo, BuyTicket, and FunBuyNet to stop facilitating resales ahead of BTS’s three São Paulo shows at Estádio do MorumBIS, with more than 200,000 fans expected. The agency alleges the platforms failed to meet requirements on price transparency, total cost disclosure, and complaint and cancellation channels. The sites were given 72 hours to comply, with a daily fine of BRL 100,000 (about $18,600 USD) for non-compliance, and were told to make sure existing customers actually receive their tickets. The action follows Brazil’s “Taylor Swift law,” signed at the end of August.
Bots hit Garth Brooks and Sam Fender on-sales
Garth Brooks canceled a newly added Saturday matinee in Kansas City after bots flooded the on-sale. Of the more than 90,000 people in the queue, he said most were bots holding floor and lower-bowl inventory, and he called the problem out of hand and getting worse on this tour. Buyers will be automatically refunded. On the same day, real fans in Seattle sold out three shows within minutes and a fourth was added with more than 30,000 still in the queue.
Across the Atlantic, Sam Fender pushed back the pre-sale for his three St. James’ Park shows by a day after what the promoter called a sophisticated bot attack on Gigantic.
vivenu launches an MCP server so organizers can run ticketing from AI tools
Ticketing platform vivenu has launched an MCP Server that lets organizers connect their account to ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, and other compatible AI assistants and run more than 100 ticketing functions through conversation: pulling sales reports, creating events, adjusting pricing, issuing tickets, and holding seats. Each user connects through their own vivenu account, so the AI can only do what that person is already permitted to do, and actions that change data, like price changes, are flagged for human confirmation. It builds on the AI Assistant vivenu launched in July.
Easol raises $30M and launches AI “Teammates” for festival promoters
Easol is also focused on AI. The experience commerce platform closed a $30 million Series A extension, made up of $20 million in equity from investors including Y Combinator, Tiger Global, and Foundation Capital, plus a $10 million debt facility from Viola Credit, bringing its total raised to $60 million. Founded in 2021 by festival co-founders Ben and Lisa Simpson, the platform says it has powered bookings for 2.8 million guests in more than 135 countries this year. The funding helped build Teammates, AI agents that work inside the platform on support, sales, and operations. One festival used them to surface $28,000 in recoverable payments in seconds, a job that previously took two days.
Prince George’s County approves $200M for a Sphere at National Harbor
The Prince George’s County Council in Maryland voted 8 to 0 to commit roughly $200 million toward a 6,000-seat Sphere at National Harbor, authorizing up to $215 million in special obligation bonds that Sphere Entertainment will gradually repay. The county will also build a $40 million parking garage, the state is adding over $13 million, and the total project is around $1.4 billion. County Executive Aisha Braveboy projects a $1.3 billion economic impact for the county, with the venue targeted to open in early 2030.
